"The biggest tragedy of our times is not / what happened to so and so or how / this country fell or that country suffered so..." - from Happy Baby by Corie Feiner
Great post. A friend of mine who went through addiction treatment said the best advice she received for hard days was to “wiggle her toes and feel grateful to be alive”.
Truly one of my favorite poses (I never turn back over on my mat without a little Baby!!) Your advice to find joy in everything is just crucial in today’s day and age. I just had a thought occur to me while reading this. The Gibran poem “On Joy and Sorrow” is a constant tool in my back pocket. I just realized that Happy Baby is like the personification of the line “The deeper that sorrow carves into your being, the more joy you can contain.” To rest vulnerable on your back, your body open and cupped, carved by every tragedy and wound, willing to accept the abundance of joy raining down if we let it.
Sooner or later I will get into headstands. And after reading your poem, I think it will be sooner!

That is amazing!

Thank you for turning me back to Gibran! I love his work and his wisdom. I love what you wrote about letting it all in... if we let it.
Great reads! Thank you!
