Happy Baby
"The biggest tragedy of our times is not / what happened to so and so or how / this country fell or that country suffered so..." - from Happy Baby by Corie Feiner
Hello yogis, poets, and seekers of inspiration!
How do you find your joy? Not on beach days or sunny “everything is going as I planned” days, but the in the midst of hard moments on hard days?
Since today’s yoga pose poem is, Happy Baby, I am going to focus on finding joy — in the little things, in the big things, in the easy things, in the redundant things, in the everything-ness that makes up what we experience to be our lives.
I give us permission to be ok and not give into collective grief. I give us permission to get silly and not take it all so seriously. And, if it is a really, really, really hard day for you, I invite you to a moment of self-care, poetry, and maybe even a bit of laughter.
Here are four recommendations for working on feeling happy today—
Watch the original Laughing Baby video. It is a blast from the past back when Youtube was more of an innocent home video format.
Read the post, “Practical Tips for Happiness” on the Do Happy Be Happy Substack written by Alan Jones, Phd. He is a Mind Coach and a has a plethora of inspiring and practical material on spirituality and changing your mindset.
Practice Happy Baby pose. If you are not familiar with it, here is a tutorial by Ventuno Yoga.
And lastly, read my poem, Happy Baby, and take your time to feel what it would feel like to embody this pose on every level of your being.
Happy Baby
By Corie Feiner The biggest tragedy of our times is not what happened to so and so or how this country fell or that country suffered so, or even how our elders have abandoned us in so many ways. It could be that those in charge neglected to pass on the instruction manual and the list of tools we would need to deal with this life, but I say it is that we forgot how to be delighted by our toes, to lay on our backs like babies and play with big toe, little toe and pinky toe always doing its own thing, to see our feet as one of the leaves rustling on a tree as we become present, again, to the wonder of it all, and how truly awesome it is that we are actually here. Sanskrit Name: Ananda Balasana
Thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to read this. Please do share anything below on how you embodied - or tried to embody - Happy Baby today!

Sooner or later I will get into headstands. And after reading your poem, I think it will be sooner!
Great post. A friend of mine who went through addiction treatment said the best advice she received for hard days was to “wiggle her toes and feel grateful to be alive”.
