Corie I love how you tell the stories of the body behind the poem and how the poem offers its own teaching…especially this one — how twisting ourselves heals us….illuminating 💕
This is fantastic I can’t wait to bring it to class! I teach in what is known as “the sailing capital of the world” and often weave in water/bay themes! I did not know that fun fact about sea sponges. I love the story of Matsyendra it is a reminder of the hero’s journey and all that can be gleaned from the depths of darkness and isolation, if we open our soul to receive it. Thank you for sharing this lovely poem 🙏
Capitalist lol yea there's plenty of those here! Annapolis earned the nickname because sailing is a big part of the culture here. We're located on the Chesapeake Bay, the US Naval Academy is downtown, and it's said that there are more sailboats per capita than anywhere else in the world.
When I teach I find myself naturally drawing in whatever is happening in the bay (like when we get crazy high tides or storms), and incorporate general themes about going with the flow, riding the waves of sensation, and the exploration of churning/stillness we do in the tantric hatha yoga tradition (which can bring about profound clarity and insights).
I love twists of all kinds, but something about reclining twist feels so good. I usually do the version with both knees bent, but have recently been playing with this one again. The poem was wonderful, encapsulating the feeling of the twist.
So proud you're my mom!
This is the best comment ever… from my son!
So great!!!

Thank you! Sending you so much love!
Beautiful imagery and love the story behind the poem. This is my favorite twist to release tension in my hips.
Lovely!
Thank you!
This is beautiful. Good rhythm and reminder of how versatile and resilient we can be. Thank you.

Thank you for receiving it. Please tell me more about your watery themes and your “sailing capitalist the world.”
