"There are times I did not feel worthy

of this seat and I could not find my way

to stillness." This was my whole life, unworthiness and staying busy so I didn't have to feel it. I am grateful to have shed that persona and stepped into my fierceness. It was a journey worth taking.

God I love these poems. The seat of my power - yes!! I love that. Ya know, that's the 2nd time in a week that I've heard that phrase and with the word throne too. Interesting developments....

Ooo I love this one! Especially because you leaned in to the actual meaning and not the Westernized take. One of my teachers always complained about it being called Chair pose. There is nothing about it that mimics sitting in a chair. Sitting in a chair is supposed to be comfortable and relaxing. Fierce Pose or Thunderbolt Pose is not relaxing lol. Also one of my least favorite poses but thinking about sitting in a throne looking behind me at my past makes it so much more interesting!

Thank you. Chair Pose is hard for me! So is sitting in the throne of my being. This is how they go hand in hand. To be brave enough to lead and be seen and let go of the trance of unworthiness (as Tara Brach says.)

As far as the meaning of the poses, I find it is important to not be annoyed at people for not knowing. But to educate. There is always more to know and there is so much I do not know. However, what is hard is when people do not want to know and think they do know and confuse opinion for fact... but I have learned, especially as a mother to teens, that is just where they are at.

May you sit in your throne of your being today!

every part of me lights on fire"

Thank you. I swear these words came through me. One I embraced the syllabic resonance of "s" more "s" sounds wanted to be sung.

I love when I can hear your voice so clearly in your poetry! It’s like you’re reading it to me. And I’m so pleased to know a fellow Sanskrit nerd 🤓 it is such a beautiful and rich onomatopoeitic language. One thing I learned recently about the word hridaya is the sounds of it mimic the sound of the heart when said properly. And it breaks down to hri (to give) da (to take) ya (balance). It is helping me stop overextending myself in service and tend more to myself. It is about balance! I hope you’ll say more about the visionary experience you had in Hero Pose someday. Or maybe you have? Send me a link to that post I’m so curious!

Hi, Julianne. That is so interesting about the word hridaya and how it contains the intrinsic paradox of life in one word.

I don't know if I am a Sanskrit nerd, but I am a nerd! When I write my poems I try to honor their tradition knowing that I am a guest, in a way, to their meaning and evolution.

I am so glad to hear that this one word, though, allows you to stop overextending yourself and to honor your divine beautiful being.

I don't have a link to a post that describes the mystical experience I had that lead to these poems. I have not yet found a way to describe it exactly... but you know I like a challenge so... I'll keep you posted!
