Lord of the Dance Pose

I swear I once cleared a dance floor with my own two feet,
the crowd moving backwards around me
as if I was a cosmic big bang and the whole room vibrated
around me with oohs, and ahs, and oms.
I swear when I balance on one leg and hold the other one
behind me, I am a delicate fire,
every muscle contracted and shaking and holding me in place,
my uplifted hand before me reaching towards something,
towards nothing, as I dance in a stillness
that tremors and churns with all of creation. This doesn’t mean
I haven’t tripped and fallen enough times to know that I, too,
am made of dust. I too, have had to completely
