If you read a poem on the page, it enters your imagination through your eyes.
If you listen to a poem out loud — whether it is you reading it to yourself, someone else reading it, or the poet themselves reading it — it also enters you through your ears. You can experience the rhythm, the rhyme, the musicality of the each syllable and sound. It enters you. It becomes a part of you. Embodied.
I invite you to listen to my poem, Lotus Pose. If it is part of your practice, I encourage you can sit in Lotus Pose, but this position is not available to you, then I invite you to sit cross legged, or just sit… or just stop where you are for a moment, and take it in.
But first, on a lighter note, I want to share some “bloopers.”
In this first one, I forgot to breathe. Believe me, the irony of reading a yoga poem and not breathing was was not lost on me. 😌
