Imagine thousands of people in Star Pose as they hear this....
"To be in star pose is to stand with your heart so open it could feel worthy of taking up any space it needs..."
As I watched the Total Solar Eclipse begin to wane, I opened my arms and started to intuitively recite my poem, Star Pose, out loud… to myself… and I was called to share it with everyone else there on the shores of Lake Champlain.
Thousands of people were gazing at the sky. The air was cool and dark. Jupiter miraculously shined. A solar flare was visibly flinging its energy outwards towards space. Towards nothing. Towards us.
I felt, for a moment, a strong togetherness and connection with everyone there. And I wanted to give them a gift. Perhaps as a way to hold onto the feeling for just a little bit longer.
I took out a hard copy of the poem, Star Pose, from my bag (yes, I almost always have one on hand), told my family I would be right back, walked up to the WCAX TV main stage, reached up and handed the emcee the poem, and asked if he would mind if I could read it to everyone there.
He took it into his hand as if he had just received a surprise love letter in the mail and bounced his head around as he read it. I was pleased he was considering it and waited patiently on the grass.
Hours earlier I had already asked the stage manager if I could share the poem during the pre-eclipse event, but because I was not on their “jam packed schedule,” they said no. I was ok with that, because I was there after all, full of gratitude to be witnessing such an extraordinary event.
However, after the collective gasp and wonder of the eclipse, the stage went silent, and I realized that the program schedule had ended and I could ask again. Why not? The worst that could happen is he could say no.
The emcee looked at me as if he was getting a sense of who this stranger was and finally asked if he could read it instead.
I agreed, but as he took his position in front of the mic, I jumped in and asked if I could show everyone the pose as he read so that they could receive the poem fully.
At this point he chuckled and seemed to soften. I knew I was slicing through a bureaucratic pre-determined structure, but I am an Aries after all and since the eclipse was an Aries eclipse, it seemed completely logical to me.
He agreed to let me on stage, but then as he was about introduce the poem, I jumped in and asked if he would mind if I read it, instead.
He gave me a look as if he realized that this is just what had to happen and I was not going away until I shared it, he said, “OK, ok. Just go right ahead…” and handed me the mic.
He introduced me and then this is what happened next—
Not everyone stood in Star Pose, and perhaps not everyone heard it, but the speakers went down the length of the waterfront to reach thousands of people and I pray that anyone who needed to hear the words —
We have seen the beginning of time over
and over again and, each time, it seems
like the end,
but know this, as you stand there, that you
are a wish in someone else’s sky.
heard it, and felt it. And that you do, too.
This is my vision—
to read this poem to thousands of people to create a harmonic convergence of open hearts. I truly believe that there are more good hearted people than there are those who are lost in the egoic mind, anger, and greed. If we can come together, then we can amplify love, integrity, joy, and peace.
My goal is to do my part to help usher in this new age, which I believe is already here. Yes, with poetry, yoga, and deep mother love.
Let me know if you are down to support this project.

I am excited to share that Real Woman Magazine published my article and poem about embodiment in their most recent issue. So far only their digital copies are up, but if you are local to the New Jersey and Pennsylvania area, look out for a hard copy in your inbox.
{Free} Bodylove Poetry Writing Workshop
I am excited to offer another free sample of my Bodylove Poetry Writing Workshop for women on Sunday, April 28th at 10 am ET.
Women and mamas, are encouraged to register here.
We will be creating community, connecting with our bodies, and writing about our skin. You will be amazed at how cathartic this can feel and what will come out of you as you share your work, express yourself, and receive the support of like-minded women.
From this workshop, you will get a sense of what it would look like to be a part of my four-week workshop in May where we will be writing about our hymen, uterus, menstrual blood, and our stretch marks/bellies.
Women and mamas can register for the free sample workshop here.
Limit: 20 participants.
Registration closes: Friday, April 26th.
After experiencing the most magnificent 3 minutes and 18 seconds of totality, the kids asked me where their mom was. I replied that I didn’t know, maybe she went to the bathroom? A few seconds later, the stage announces that Corie is about to read Star Pose. Aha! There she is! A truly beautiful moment.
You go, fellow Aries girl! I got powered up at the eclipse, too! Loved that you gave the gift of your poem to the crowd. What a beautiful gift from the cosmos ❤️
