Before you listen to the audio, I invite you to take a moment, take a breath, and either lay back into your version of Happy Baby or sit in a way that is comforting or fun for you.
Ready? Here you go—
And here is the text of the poem, again, in case you want to read along, read it aloud, or read it to a friend.
Happy Baby
By Corie Feiner
The biggest tragedy of our times is not
what happened to so and so or how
this country fell or that country suffered so,
or even how our elders have abandoned us
in so many ways.
It could be that those in charge neglected
to pass on the instruction manual and the list
of tools we would need to deal with this life,
but I say it is that we forgot how to be delighted
by our toes, to lay on our backs like babies and play
with big toe, little toe and pinky toe always doing
its own thing, to see our feet as one of the leaves
rustling on a tree as we become present, again,
to the wonder of it all, and how truly awesome it is
that…
