A Poem for Puppy Pose
"...surrender is something that can happen at any time, with a giggle, a breath, a deep, deep sigh. ." - from Puppy Pose by Corie Feiner
There are many ways to pray—
Calling out to the skies when in danger
or over the suffering body of a loved one.
Sitting quietly with your head bowed in your place of workshop. Or your home.
Rocking your body backwards and forwards as you mummer or chant or sing.
Or kneeling on the floor, on a rug, or on a mat, head pressed to earth, arms reaching for something—
heart melting—
like in Puppy Pose, otherwise known as Heart Melting Pose.
I love this intense stretch of the spine, the chest muscles, the shoulders, and the heart.
I love the idea of imagining myself as a puppy as I press my head against the ground, reaching my arms as far as they can go, and releasing the tension from my shoulders.
Giving in —
Breathing —
Letting go —
