A Poem for Lotus Pose
"...if I want to grow, really grow, / I need to unfurl and reach towards the sun / every damn day..." -- from Lotus Pose, by Corie Feiner
As I sit here now in Lotus Pose, grounding my tailbone to the earth and imagining the crown of my head reaching towards the sky, I wish upon you all that you could pretend, again, like a child does, that you are a flower.
Not just picking a flower, not just smelling a flower, but that you are a sacred and majestical flower that is grown out of mud and guck and all that is heavy and dirty in our existence, but that you also touch the ether, the mist, the still wondrous sky.
I am a “To Do” list girl. I love to be productive, to feel useful, to end the day knowing I got stuff done. There is a place for that, but today, I also encourage you to sit in your version of Lotus Pose, close your eyes, take a conscious breath, and for a moment or two, imagine…
Now let us gift ourselves with the poem, Lotus Pose. It was a gift to me and I am honored to share it with you here —
