A Poem for Four Limbed Staff Pose (Chaturanga Dandasana)
"I tell myself to hold it, hold it for just one more moment— almost belly flopping to the floor, almost lifting myself towards the sky, almost giving up, almost giving in..." -- Corie Feiner

Pay attention to the gap - the gap between two thoughts, the brief, silent space between words in a conversation, between the notes of a piano or flute, or the gap between the in-breath and the out-breath.
- Eckhart Tolle
My poem “Four Limbed Staff Pose”
honors being in that space
between one thought and another,
one breath and another,
one pose and another.
It is about how it takes effort
and patience
and commitment
to hold the discomfort
of holding on
just a little bit longer
to trembling
to shaking
to what seems like emptiness—
but if we give into this space
there is a moment of strength
and quiet in which we can find
our deepest selves and the mystery
of what holds the stars together
and our lives together —
that space of almost—
that space in between.
